July 10

Starting hiking at 8:30.  No weather or bug issues.  It was nice and cool last night with a slight breeze.  In 5 miles I will enter Maine. 👍   I've been on the AT now for 132 days.  Maine again has 281 miles of trail.  It also has the last great obstacle, the 100 mile wilderness.  It is considered the wildest section of the AT and one of the most challenging to navigate and traverse.  It runs between Monson, Maine and Baxter State Park where Mt. Katahdin and the end of the AT are located. Hikers are told to make sure they have enough supplies to complete it.

The views today were outstanding.  The trail was very strenuous with a lot of rock scrambling. I only did 9.8 miles going from the shelter I was at to Full Goose Campsite and shelter.  I've set up my tent on on one of the platforms. The weather was nice all day with a slight breeze. But the panoramic views again were so so awesome.  Especially the view from Goose Eye mountain.  I could see Mt. Washington and the entire Presidential Range off in the distance.  So I've entered Maine and now I'm at mile 1912.3.......276.9 miles from Mt. Katahdin.
