May 3 / 4

On the trail by 9.  Good weather so far.  Reached the Seeley / Woodworth Shelter by 3 pm.  Going to have a snack and contnue on.  It's overcast with a slight and welcome breeze.

Stopped at The Priest Shelter, mile 827.0 meaning I hiked 20.6 miles today.  The Arkansas twins are here as well.  I'm here for the night.

5 / 4    On the trail by 8.  Great hiking and weather all day.   About a mile or so into my hike I came across a huge Timber Rattlesnake smak dab in the middle of the trail sunning itself.  It initially startled me.  I snapped several pictures of it before moving on.

Once I reached Reeds Gap I couldn't resist going to the Devils Backbone Brewpub where they let AT backpackers camp for free.  It was 5 miles from the trail and I had no problem hitching a ride down to it.  It's really a gem in the Virginia wilderness.  Great home brew beer and food.  I indulged myself to the ambiance and loved it.  It has an ice-filled urinal which I believe I've never seen before so I had to take a picture of it.  The only ice-filled privy near the AT!   I'm at mile 842.5 and tent camping in a designated place for backpackers in the woods adjacent to the pub.  So far I'm here by myself.  The pub offers a five dollar hiker breakfast and a free ride back up the road to the trail.  The next big destination is Shanandoah National Park and the city of Waynesboro, Virginia just prior to entering the park.
