Passed the 1000 mile barrier 👌 ✌. Staying at the Bears Den Hostel. The hostel is owned by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC). It's a cool looking building styled after an English castle. Several of the thru hikers here, me included, decided to slack pack to Harper's Ferry. What that means is that the operator here will carry our backpacks, via his car, to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy headquarters in Harper's Ferry. We will use the spare small day packs he has for snacks and water and leave them at the ATC when we finish. It will be a 23 mile hike.
The hike went off without a hitch. My backpack was waiting for me at the ATC center in Harper's Ferry. I'm here in Maryland now at a hostel. Earlier I walked across the Potomac River to get to the ATC headquarters where they took my picture and I gave them my personal information for their records. I'm now at mile 1026.3
