May 10 / 11

So I camped at Hogback Mountain lookout last night, mile 954.4   The fog began rolling in around 10 pm and continued until daybreak.  The tent and everything that was left in the open such as my backpack was wet this morning.  I hiked 15 fairly easy miles down hill to US 522 and hitched a ride into Front Royal, Virginia where I first went to a Mc D's for wifi and coffee and then did my laundry across the street.  Chef had stayed the night at the Mountain Home Cabin B&B and hostel so I had them pick me up at the laundry mat / food store and am staying there tonight.

5 / 11   Into the woods by 8:15  The forest is now thick and lush with foliage, and the trail is nicely laid out.  Stopped at the Jim and Dolly Denton Shelter for a break.  The shelter comes equipped with an outdoor solar shower.  Spotted a newt on the trail and snapped a picture.
