Staying in NYC and waiting for the weather to improve. I was at the hostel again last night and may stay for yet a third and final night. Left for the subway early with plans to go to midtown and walk around Times Square then head over to the Empire State building. It's still sprinkling, cold, and overcast. I would like to go to the top of Freedom Tower and maybe the Empire State building but it's not going to happen today. It's forecast to be clear on Wednesday the 4th.
Walked on and across the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time ever and briefly went into Brooklyn Heights before retracing my steps back to Manhattan. The bridge crosses the East River. It was an hour long walk there and back. Got a glimpse of Lady Liberty off in the distance. I also watched the live broadcast of Good Morning America through the windows this morning at Time Square along with many other tourists. I took a few more pictures of One World Trade Center or Freedom Tower and some pictures of the subway I rode which was initially empty when I first got on.
In the late afternoon I walked through Central Park. It's well maintained and clean with no trash seen anywhere. I walked by Strawberry Fields, within Central Park, right across from the Dakota penthouse where John Lennon lived and was killed.
