Got off to a nice early start. It started sprinkling this morning as soon as I was on the trail. It's also warm. The rain let up after an hour and the sun came out. I walked by what is said to be the largest oak tree on the entire AT, known as the Dover Oak, this morning. It's estimated to be 300 years old. Took several pictured of it. The day so far has been very muggy with sweat pouring off of me.
I crossed the metro north railroad track after walking through the Pawling Nature Reserve. Made it to Wiley Shelter around 1pm and I'm having a snack before moving on. This shelter is only 2.2 miles from Connecticut.
So I'm now in Connecticut. I kept hiking until 8 pm completing 22.8 miles. I'm at mile 1463.9 at a place called Schaghticoke Mountain Campsite and I'm tent camping here for the night.
