Started from Daleville at 9:15. Hiked up to Fullhardt Knob Shelter, five miles with a 1500 ft elevation. Here having lunch. It's 12 noon.
Ended up doing 19 miles today. I'm at mile 746.4. I hiked with Chef most of the day. I found a camping site just past Bobblets Gap Shelter at around 7:30 and decided to stay because it was getting dark. Chef kept going looking for another site further along the trail. So I'm tent camping here for the night. The weather was perfect today.
4 / 29 Started hiking at 8 am. Did 16.5 miles and am solo tent camping again tonight. I'm at mile 762.9 just 3 miles shy of the next shelter which only holds 6 people and is most likely full. Besides I like tent camping whenever the weather is good which it is. And there's a nice water source just down the hill. I'm camped adjacent to the trail and was able to build a fire.
4/ 30 Slept well last night. The fire I had built was still hot and easy to start back up this morning. It's 42 degrees and warming up quickly. There are a few high clouds with no wind. I'll get back on the trail by 8.
The weather turned for the worse this afternoon with thunderstorms moving in. It's raining as I write this. I'm tent camping again tonight. This is the first rain event for my new tent. So far no leaks. I'm at Marble Spring campsite, mile 776.9 having done a 14 mile day with many steep elevation changes.
A young man by the name of Paul Bray who goes by Sparkles on the trail passed me again today. He's someone I first met at the MARTA train station in Atlanta on February 28 at the beginning of this trip and have talked in length with. I've run into him several times on my hike. He's carrying the cremated remains of his dad with him spreading them as he walks the trail.
