June 28

"Rain drops keep falling on my head"  All of Vermont and most of the northeast is getting pelted with rain right now.  It started late last night and continues this morning.  I'm stuck in the tent, no way will I go out into this until it stops.  It's raining hard.  I'm only a few miles from entering New Hampshire and will do so today, if the rain ever stops that is.  I'll go into Hanover where the trail goes right through the center of town and next to Dartmouth College.

I'm in New Hampshire...... 👌  Goodbye Vermont...... ✌

Hiked in a light drizzle into town.  Dropped my backpack off at the Dartmouth Outing Club building on campus while I walked around.  Checking things out during this soggy, wet day.  Went to Subway for lunch.  The weather is still switching between sprinkling and drizzles.

So Hanover, New Hampshire is the home of Dartmouth College, a private Ivy League research university.  Dartmouth is the smallest university in the Ivy League with a student enrollment of less than 7000.  It's old and was founded before the American Revolution.  It's very elitist as well.  I was told a semester here costs about $30,000!! They allow thru hikers a place to store their backpacks at the Dartmouth Outing Club on campus so we don't have to carry it while exploring the campus and town, which I briefly did.

Kept hiking and am spending the night at Moose Mountain Shelter mile 1758.0.  The trail went by  Moose Mountain South Peak  2222 ft.  I took several pictures from the top.  It's cold and windy but not too bad.  The bugs are all grounded which should make for a nice night.
