I left the protection of the shelter around 7:45 and it has been raining all morning. It's 10 am now and I've just come across some wild ponies!! They were just milling about around 100 yards prior to reaching the Wise Shelter. Snapped several pictures of them. They're not afraid of people at all. So far I've hiked 5.2 miles with 7.6 to go until my next break.
The rain continued throughout the day. I hiked 16 miles to the Hurricane Shelter. The shelter is advertised to hold 8 people, there are 6 of us here so far. It's nice to be here and dry out.
Another important milestone......I've now hiked over 500 miles of the Appalachian trail.....😊 ✌
